Caring for women is what we do at Prentice Women's Hospital. The new, state-of-the-art facility, which opened in 2007, is designed with patient comfort and convenience in mind. At Prentice, we continue Northwestern Memorial’s long history of excellence in women’s health, which dates back to 1895. We have the capacity to deliver up to 13,600 newborns every year, making us the largest birthing center in Illinois and the Midwest and one of the largest in the country. At the Renée Schine Crown Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU), which is the largest NICU in Illinois, we provide family-centered, lifesaving care and treatments for premature and seriously ill newborns.
